Aliyev Expresses Willingness to Work on Peace Treaty with Armenia
The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, has commented on the potential signing of a peace treaty with Armenia via his official Twitter account. He stated that he is ready to work on a new bilateral agreement.
“We hope that after the parliamentary elections in Armenia, there will be more clarity on this issue. The peace agreement envisions the recognition of the territorial integrity of both countries, and we are ready for that,” wrote Aliyev.
Earlier, acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia announced that Armenia is preparing to sign a peace treaty with Azerbaijan that fully serves the interests of the Armenian people. “If Azerbaijan fulfills our agreements and adheres to the terms we have discussed, then yes, I will sign the document,” said Pashinyan, without revealing the contents of the agreement.
At the same time, Pashinyan emphasized the need to discuss territorial issues with Azerbaijan, including the matter of enclaves.
