As reported by photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, around 21:00, Vahe Sargsyan, a 40-year-old resident of Yerevan, approached inspectors Harutyun Gasparyan and Vachagan Sargsyan, who were performing duties on Argishti Street, and reported that an unknown individual had openly stolen the bag he was holding under his arm at the “Yerevan City” supermarket on Mashtots Avenue, which contained the equivalent of 3 million drams—specifically, 400,000 Russian rubles—and had fled the scene.
The road police officers clarified the direction in which the robber had fled and, together with the victim, chased after him. They managed to apprehend and neutralize the suspect.
The robber, identified as 36-year-old Edgar Sarukhanyan, a resident of Yerevan, was taken into custody by the Central Police Department. During a personal search, the stolen items were discovered on him.
