"I Closed Her Mouth and Threw Her in the Trash". The Case of the 10-Month-Old Baby's Murder in Gyumri Approaches Conclusion

The trial concerning the murder of a young child in Gyumri is nearing its conclusion at the Shirak Regional Court, presided over by Judge John Hairapetian. During the session, the prosecutor's closing arguments were presented.

Prosecutor Artyom Avetisyan informed NEWS.am that he has requested an 11-year prison sentence for Ani Minasyan, who is accused of the child's murder.

He stated that the defendant does not accept the charges against her and has not expressed any position during the trial. "During the preliminary investigation, she testified that she couldn’t cope with life, that her money had run out, and out of anger, she resorted to such actions. She recounts that for this reason, she taped the child's mouth, threw her in the trash, and left. The sound of the baby's cries reached me, but I didn’t hold on and just walked away. She does not have any mental health issues," the prosecutor added, noting that the child was 10 months old.

It is worth mentioning that the body of the young child was found on August 31, 2019, in the municipal landfill of Gyumri, bound with tape and with her skirt wrapped around her neck. She has been charged under Article 104, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code (murder).
