China to Allocate $1 Million to Assist Palestine
Beijing has welcomed the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, expressing hope for an end to violence and a return to peaceful negotiations, according to AFP.
China announced that the international community must now 'extend a helping hand' to the region, and it will provide $1 million in emergency aid and an additional $1 million to support efforts by the UN to assist the Palestinians. It will also supply 20,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines to the Palestinian people.
'China welcomes the ceasefire regime between the parties in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and hopes that the concerned parties will sincerely adhere to the ceasefire and stop the violence,' said Zhao Lijian, spokesperson for the foreign ministry, during a press briefing on Friday.
'The international community should promote the resumption of peace talks between Palestine and Israel and achieve a comprehensive, just, and sustainable solution to the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution,' he added.
According to him, China is prepared to work with the international community to further alleviate the Palestine-Israel tension.
