Incident Happened, But There’s a Missing Continuation: Daniel Ionisyan on Video from the Border

Daniel Ionisyan made a post on his Facebook page addressing a video circulating on the internet. He stated that the incident indeed occurred, but the missing continuation in the video was in our favor.

“First, I learned about the incident, part of which you saw in the circulating video, on Monday from the residents of Vardenis. I then heard the same story from various soldiers and officers serving in Verin Shorzha. Thus, I have no grounds to doubt the authenticity of the information,” Ionisyan wrote.

As you know, both sides' troops have been prohibited from firing first. The Azerbaijani army is attempting to advance without gunfire, while our army is trying to prevent this similarly without gunfire.

During this unusual process, a large Azerbaijani group “overwhelmed” our soldiers from one of the elevated positions, forcibly taking their weapons and compelling them to retreat (as seen in the video).

In response, our troops similarly took action against another, larger Azerbaijani group without firing, taking weapons and subjecting the resistors to significant beatings.

Afterwards, to prevent further escalation, local negotiations took place where the exchanged weapons were returned to their respective sides.

Since the incident, the morale of Azerbaijani forces in Armenia has significantly declined, as they received a fitting response for their actions.

I wouldn’t write this if I hadn’t been contacted from the positions and emphatically told, “We preserved our honor; they received their response, why are they spreading such things about us?”

Note: Yesterday, I personally witnessed how Azerbaijani soldiers close to our positions were avoiding even looking towards us. When our military vehicle passed not far from them, Azerbaijani soldiers would retreat behind a hill, as if fearing to be beaten.
