We Are in Constant Contact with Baku and Yerevan on This Issue: Zakharova

We are closely monitoring the situation related to the border incident between Azerbaijan and Armenia. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, in response to Tert.am's observation that Nikol Pashinyan officially addressed the CSTO regarding the events occurring in Syunik and Gegharkunik during a Security Council meeting, and the question of Armenia not separately appealing to Russia for assistance as a strategic partner.

"We are in constant contact regarding this matter with Baku and Yerevan, including at a high level and through our countries' military and border services," she said.

According to her, Russia reaffirms the necessity of strict adherence to the ceasefire regime and the implementation of the statements made by the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Russia on November 9, 2020, and January 11, 2021.

"We believe that all such cases must be resolved exclusively through political and diplomatic methods. The Russian Federation is ready to continue to contribute in every way to the consistent settlement of the situation in the South Caucasus," the response stated.
