It Was Necessary to Capture Azerbaijani Nationals Crossing Armenia's Borders and Exchange Them for Our Prisoners: Marukyan
The "Enlightened Armenia" party has joined the initiative of the Prosperous Armenia Party to call for an extraordinary session of the National Assembly regarding the situation at the border in Syunik. This was stated today at a press conference by the leader of the "Enlightened Armenia" party, Edmon Marukyan, who added that they have already signed the initiative.
“The extraordinary session of the National Assembly will focus on the situation in Syunik and Gegharkunik. The main reason for gathering is to discuss and ask questions to the relevant officials. The parliament cannot remain indifferent to the processes happening in the country,” said Marukyan.
He also noted that he does not rule out the possibility that the National Assembly session might be closed, but there are still many steps to take before the session, including a meeting of the NA council, which has to decide on convening the extraordinary session.
Marukyan emphasized that the procedures are such that the opposition might not have the opportunity to initiate an extraordinary session at all. When asked if he was aware of the position of the "My Step" faction regarding holding an extraordinary session, Marukyan answered negatively.
“If the problem is not resolved peacefully, then the government has the right to declare a state of war, and in that case, the elections would be canceled. However, I believe that it is possible to find a peaceful resolution at this time; I do not think a state of war is necessary,” stated Marukyan.
