Azerbaijani Forces Advance 300-400 Meters Towards Vardenis, Heavy Equipment Operated All Night: Village Head

In the Gegharkunik region, Azerbaijani Armed Forces have advanced several hundred meters towards Vardenis yesterday. This was stated today, May 14, in an interview with NEWS.am by Artem Yeranossyan, the administrative head of the Verin Shorja community, noting that the enemy has moved approximately 300 to 400 meters.

“The Azerbaijani side has advanced in the left part of the Vardenis area. Neither we nor they were there; it was a free zone. Yesterday, we realized that they had moved down approximately 300 to 400 meters. They are not inclined to retreat, but we are standing our ground,” he said.

The village head reported that heavy enemy equipment has been operating all night at the border. “They had their lights on; it was visible. There are thick layers of snow; I don't know if they are clearing that or trying to create a road, but heavy machinery has been working all night,” he stated.

According to the village head, the Azerbaijanis have settled in an area that locals use as pasture, while another part collects their irrigation water. “Now not everyone has gone up the mountain, for safety reasons, and they are grazing their livestock in the Shorja area. On the left side of the Vardenis area, where they advanced yesterday, there are irrigation basins. In any case, our Armed Forces are ready for anything; it is not the case that they want to do something and we will be cornered,” he added.
