Details of the State Treason Case Under Investigation by the NSS: 'Zhoghovurd'
'Zhoghovurd' daily has revealed details about a criminal case under investigation by the National Security Service (NSS), in which a case of state treason has been uncovered. Specifically, yesterday, the NSS announced that a senior military official of Armenia had regularly met with employees of Azerbaijan's intelligence services in Georgia, passing on information considered state secrets, and has been detained.
The official announcement did not mention any specifics, leaving it unclear when this incident was revealed and when the military official transmitted the information, raising considerable doubts.
Sources from 'Zhoghovurd' maintain that this incident occurred in 2011. Further, the military official is a former retiree and stated in his testimony to the NSS that the information he provided created a situation where they could go to Georgia, meet with the Azerbaijani consul, and potentially cause harm.
It is perplexing why the NSS is now revealing information about a 2011 incident when this individual has already been in custody for over two years. It appears that this new approach by the NSS has been adopted by the current deputy head, Andranik Simonian, who is attempting to demonstrate that significant espionage revelations are occurring since his appointment. However, it turns out that this information was also fabricated, although it was difficult to expect a serious response from an official under the patronage of Hakob Simidian, the secretary of the 'My Step' faction.
