Borders Are Not Being Fortified: Taguhi Tovmasyan Was Right, Nikol Pashinyan Was Wrong - 'Zhoghovurd'

The newspaper 'Zhoghovurd' reports: 'What happened yesterday on the borders of Syunik and Gegharkunik proved that independent MP Taguhi Tovmasyan was right, while Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was wrong. The issue is that on May 3, during the first attempt to elect the prime minister in parliament, independent MP Taguhi Tovmasyan raised a question about border security to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. However, instead of a reassuring answer, Pashinyan made self-assured statements and, moreover, accused the MP of disclosing classified information.

‘We do not have a fortified frontline, we do not have trenches, and our security is, to put it mildly, in a worrying state. I want to understand why we do not have a fortified frontline,’ asked Tovmasyan. Nikol Pashinyan sharply responded, ‘In many cases, when I listen to our public discourse, I understand that the Azerbaijani intelligence does not need to spend much money. I assure you that not only the Azerbaijanis, but also you cannot see everything that is done because the vast majority of it is done secretly.’

It turns out that even if the Prime Minister was informed that some activities were taking place at the frontline, what occurred yesterday on the borders is indeed worrying. Specifically, according to an official report, yesterday morning, Azerbaijani armed forces attempted to carry out certain activities in one of the border areas of Syunik under the guise of 'border calibration.' According to the Armenian Ministry of Defense, after the actions taken by Armenian units, Azerbaijani soldiers ceased those activities.

There was also information about similar movements on the border in Gegharkunik. ‘After the signing of the infamous document on November 9-10, when Karvachar was handed over, Azerbaijani troops positioned themselves in those areas in such positions as it had been possible due to heavy snowfall. Now that the snow has melted, they are advancing in the areas they have taken under control, positioning themselves closer to us,’ stated independent MP Taguhi Tovmasyan.

The MP has been informed that no aggression has been committed against the state border of Armenia in the Gegharkunik region. The enemy is advancing in the area that has been transferred to them.’
