As of today, 296 cases of intestinal infections reported in the Sisian community

From May 9 to 11, 2021, 13 residents presented symptoms of intestinal infectious diseases at the Sisian Medical Center, of which 5 were hospitalized. This information was provided by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia.

As part of epidemiological investigations, specialists from the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health conducted door-to-door visits on May 11, resulting in the identification of intestinal infectious disease symptoms in another 199 residents. The majority of the residents reported similar symptoms, including vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, and fever reaching up to 38°C.

On May 12, another 14 residents with symptoms of intestinal infectious diseases visited the Sisian Medical Center, while an additional 70 patients were identified through door-to-door visits.

As of today, a total of 296 cases with symptoms characteristic of intestinal infections have been recorded in the Sisian community (281 cases are under 18 years old, and 15 are adults). Currently, 5 patients are receiving treatment in a hospital setting at the Sisian Medical Center, while other symptomatic residents are being treated on an outpatient basis. The condition of all patients is assessed as moderate and mild severity, with positive progress.
