Citizens Will Not Make Any Marks on the Ballot with a Pen in the Election
In the parliamentary elections, voters will not make any marks on the ballot; they will simply select the ballot and place it in an envelope. This decision was made at the Central Electoral Commission's meeting on May 11.
The CEC Secretary, Armen Simbatyan, reminded that effectively, the amendment to the Electoral Code proposes a change to the format of the parliamentary election ballot. "Since the elections will be conducted solely on a proportional basis, the ballot will not have a backside, there will be no territorial candidates, and a pen will not be used on the ballot. The CEC adopts the decision to change the sample of the ballot. From now on, no marks will be made on the ballot during parliamentary elections," Simbatyan stated.
The voter will make their choice as follows: they will select one of the ballots and place it in the envelope. The draft decision by the CEC regarding amendments to its decision No. 139-N from November 22, 2016, was adopted through a vote.
Early parliamentary elections in Armenia will be held on June 20. President Armen Sarkissian signed the decree to appoint the early elections to the National Assembly on the evening of May 10.
