Materials Prepared in NSS Related to Torture Case of Ararat Aghabekyan
Materials are being prepared in connection with the illegal arrest, humiliation, and torture of Ararat Aghabekyan, the brother of the village head of Shurnukh, who is also known as Ashkharhapet. The Prosecutor's Office has sent the case to the NSS. This was stated by Ararat Aghabekyan's lawyer, Armen Melkonyan, in a conversation with Tert.am.
"Ararat Aghabekyan has been invited to provide an explanation. Since he is not in good health and cannot come to Yerevan from Goris, we have requested that the information Aghabekyan provided to journalists be taken into account. When a criminal case is initiated, naturally he will come to Yerevan," said the lawyer.
He added that a forensic medical examination has been appointed, which Aghabekyan underwent in Goris, appearing before the forensic doctor of Goris.
It should be recalled that Ararat Aghabekyan was subjected to humiliating treatment in the Investigative Committee, a recording of which surfaced on the internet. He was arrested for actions carried out against Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Syunik. The video showed that despite his clearly poor health condition, he was kept handcuffed in the Investigative Committee building, and only after the insistence of his defenders was an ambulance called.
