I Did Not Promise That the Sale of Turkish Goods Would Be Banned: Kereobyan

I did not promise that the sale of Turkish goods would be banned. This was stated by the Acting Minister of Economy Vahan Kereobyan during an interview with the Armenian service of Radio Azatutyun on May 6.

He clarified that such a possibility is only being discussed. “We share the concern that despite the ban on the import of Turkish goods, they are nevertheless imported. This creates an unequal competition in the market,” said the official.

According to him, the goal is not to expand the list of banned goods, but to ensure that already banned goods are not imported. “The current issues are also related to defining which body should oversee the process and what responsibility the violator should bear,” he emphasized.

It should be noted that the six-month ban on the import of Turkish products has been in effect in Armenia since December 31, 2020.
