Fraudulent Individual Posing as TV Employee Regularly Steals Money from Artsakh Residents
An unidentified individual has been regularly defrauding citizens of the Republic of Artsakh by calling them and presenting themselves as an employee of an Armenian television company. With a false promise of transmitting money to their sons serving in the army and returning it shortly after, this individual has stolen amounts of various sizes.
The Office of Public Relations of the Artsakh Republic’s Prosecutor's Office reports that this mode of theft has been continuing periodically. Since 2020, the unidentified individual, using different phone numbers, calls citizens of Artsakh and claims to be an employee of an Armenian television company, misleading them with the promise of sending money for their sons in the army and returning it within a short timeframe, thus creating a sense of trust through manipulation and pity.
Through intermediaries, such as taxi drivers, this individual has repeatedly stolen various amounts of money from multiple citizens of Artsakh, immediately severing all means of communication after taking the money.
The Artsakh Prosecutor's Office urges citizens to refrain from unreliable transactions with unknown or suspicious individuals and to immediately report to the Artsakh Police if they find themselves in a similar situation.
