Attempt to Illegally Transport Various Breeds of Puppies Foiled at Megrqi Checkpoint

The State Revenue Committee's Department for Combating Smuggling continues its efforts to uncover and prevent the illegal transportation of goods across the border of Armenia, as reported by the Public Relations and Information Department of the SRC.

This time, smugglers attempted to illegally transport various breeds of puppies, but, as a result of joint operations by the Department for Combating Smuggling and the Southern Customs Administration, the attempt was thwarted.

At the Megrqi customs checkpoint, employees conducted inspections of trucks operated by Iranian citizens N.K. and Sh.Sh. that were departing from the Republic of Armenia to the Islamic Republic of Iran. As a result, they discovered nine plastic containers hidden from customs control, attached to the trucks intended for bitumen. Inside these containers were found 8 Shih Tzu, 10 Poodle, and 1 Akita breed puppies.

In connection with this incident, materials were prepared by the Department for Combating Smuggling based on the relevant articles of the Armenian Customs Code and were forwarded to the Legal Department of the SRC.
