The Armenian Genocide Showed the Unacceptable Cost of Division and Hatred: Justin Trudeau
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has issued a message on the occasion of the 106th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
In his message, Justin Trudeau stated: “Today, on the Commemoration Day of the Armenian Genocide victims, we join the Armenian community in Canada and Armenians around the world to remember those who fell victim to the inhumane acts committed against the Armenian people. We also honor their descendants and all those who continue to live with the pain, losses, and trauma of that tragedy. The Armenian Genocide showed the world the unacceptable cost of division and hatred. Canada stands against and unequivocally condemns hatred, intolerance, and xenophobia.
Today, we reaffirm our commitment to fundamental human rights and values, and we pledge to continue working with our partners to ensure that such atrocities are never repeated. We continue to be inspired by the strength and spirit of the Armenian people as they confront unimaginable challenges and hope for a more peaceful future. On this somber anniversary, I call upon all Canadians to take a moment to honor the memory of the victims and those who survived the horrors of the Armenian Genocide. We will continue to honor them by fighting against hatred, protecting the most vulnerable, and working to make our world a better place.”
