Syunik Became More Vulnerable Simply Because We Were Sleeping at the Donkey's Ear in Time: Veteran Vova Vardanov
Things must be called by their names. For example, the Turks did not kill Armenian youth; Armenian youth died defending Armenia. The victim is killed, while they are not victims, they are the ones who have fallen. This was stated today, on April 24, at the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex during a press conference by Vova Vardanov, founder of the First Reconnaissance and Sabotage Battalion and a veteran.
“Secondly, we must stop using Turkish names like Jabrail, Lachin, Zangezur. We should refer to them as Kovsakan, Bakuravan, Ganja, just as they still refer to Stepanakert as Khankendi. The right bank of the Kura is Armenia up to Asia Minor. Thirdly, if we are correct citizens of this country, it will not be possible to slaughter, mislead, or defeat us. Any person who feels like a human must take active actions. For example, our organization is currently conducting artillery exercises at one of the military bases,” he stated.
When asked how endangered he thinks Syunik is, Vova Vardanov replied, “It is natural that Syunik is endangered, but also considering today's weaponry and technology, Yerevan, Tashir is also endangered because the missile flies far away, and the tank moves very quickly. Syunik has become more vulnerable simply because we were sleeping at the donkey's ear in time. We barely did anything to progress. We were maintaining the status quo not only at the border but also in our minds, in our army. This led to this situation. Now we need to work hard to close the gaps.”
