Russian Parliamentarians Visit Tsitsernakaberd Memorial
On April 24, Russian State Duma Deputy Pavel Shperov, Federation Council members Tatyana Kusayko and Yury Arkharov, accompanied by Armenian National Assembly Deputy Alexey Sandikov, visited the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial.
The Russian parliamentarians laid flowers at the eternal flame commemorating the victims of the Armenian Genocide. The guests also visited the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute, familiarizing themselves with artifacts that document the genocide and registered in the "Book of Honorary Guests." Tatyana Kusayko remarked that she completely agrees with her country’s president, Vladimir Putin, who considers the massacre of Armenians as Russia's personal grief. “The museum visit left a heavy impression on me, and at this moment I am very emotional speaking about it. I realized how important friendship and peace are for the whole world so that such crimes against humanity do not recur. What happened to the Armenians is a very heavy lesson that we must overcome and learn from,” she stated.
The Russian State Duma members also visited the Yerevan City Hall to participate in the opening ceremony of the exhibition titled “Endangered Heritage: Artsakh.”
The exhibition features over 120 photographs showcasing the historical, cultural, and spiritual heritage of Artsakh, including manuscripts and rugs created in the region, as well as the first books printed in Shushi. It also includes photographs from the Mother Cathedral of Holy Etchmiadzin archive, the foundation studying Armenian architecture, the archive of monumentologist Samvel Karapetyan, and the Matenadaran after Mesrop Mashtots.
