106 years later, we still have a forcibly displaced people, a whole generation of martyred and disabled individuals – President of Artsakh
The President of the Republic of Artsakh, Arayik Harutyunyan, has delivered a message in connection with the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Genocide. This was reported by the President's Office of Artsakh.
In the message, he stated:
“Dear compatriots,
Today, we once again remember and bow our heads before the innocent victims of the Genocide perpetrated against the Armenian people by the Ottoman Turkey in 1915. It has been 106 years since that cruel and horrific crime. Times, generations, and authorities have changed, but one thing remains unchanged: the continuation of genocidal policies that grossly violate and trample upon all norms and principles of international law, fundamental human rights, and legitimate interests.
Even after 106 years, we still have a forcibly displaced people, a whole generation of martyred and disabled individuals, compatriots held captive, and a lost homeland. Today, the security of the people of Artsakh is ensured by the peacekeeping forces of the Russian Federation. We are grateful to them, to all the countries and peoples, to the political and state figures, organizations, and ordinary people who extended a helping hand during critical moments to our compatriots who were saved from the clutches of death in 1915, who have stood by the Armenian people and supported our struggle for the protection of universal values and the restoration of historical justice throughout these years.
The recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide is a poignant testimony to our fidelity to these values, as well as a means to prevent further atrocities against humanity.
The Armenian people continue their struggle to beautify their homeland, keeping the memory of the holy martyrs alive for the prevention of genocides and the perpetuation of the Armenian people.”
