The Example of Nagorno-Karabakh Can Be Referenced: Merkel's Remarks During the PACE Session
“When there is no respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, as seen in the case of Nagorno-Karabakh, international law must be applied,” stated German Chancellor Angela Merkel during a video address to the participants of the PACE spring session.
“It is important to uphold the jointly accepted rules. These rules must be applied in times of threats to peace. These laws should be enforced when a state’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are not respected. The example of Nagorno-Karabakh can be referenced. In such cases, the Council of Europe must play a crucial role,” Merkel emphasized.
