Yerevan's 'Yashik' Cars Escort Unregistered BMW; Driver Penalized

Today, under the directive of Road Police's 1st Battalion Commander Vruyr Gabrielian, the driver of a BMW car was subjected to administrative liability by an inspector of the same battalion.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, while on duty on Mashtots Avenue, the police noticed several 'yashik' cars escorting an unregistered BMW. Subsequently, the police stopped the convoy and penalized the driver of the BMW who was surrounded by the 'yashiks'.

Head of the Armenian Road Police, Egor Karapetyan, and Yerevan Road Police Chief Khachik Samvelyan have repeatedly urged drivers to, first and foremost for their safety, adhere to traffic rules, not remove license plates from their vehicles, and even if violating drivers try to hide, they will ultimately be identified and held administratively liable, just like the BMW driver who was fined today. If necessary, the vehicles may also be relocated to special areas maintained by the Road Police.
