Gunfire and Injuries: A Film-like Emergency Situation Near Charbakh Cemeteries
Last night, gunshots rang out in Yerevan. Several citizens were transported to various hospitals from the "Karmir Blur" cemetery area in the Charbakh neighborhood. According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, these citizens sustained injuries from firearm discharge as well as from sharp, cutting, and piercing objects.
Currently, officers from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Yerevan Police, as well as an operational group from the Shengavit division, have formed operational-investigative teams to determine which hospitals the injured were taken to.
According to G. Shamshyan’s reports, the gunfire occurred in front of one of the mourning halls near the Karmir Blur cemetery, and at this time, a group from the Investigation Committee of Armenia's Yerevan office is arriving at the specified location.
Reports suggest that one of the theories links the gunfire with another homicide that occurred months ago on May 9 Street in Yerevan involving the use of firearms.
Currently, investigators from the Shengavit division, under the leadership of division head Robert Vardanyan and deputy head Melik Sofoyan, are conducting a site inspection, where a large number of fired cartridges, bullets, and blood-like traces have been discovered.
Police and investigators at the scene also found a Mercedes vehicle that bears traces of gunfire, with a fired bullet located in the driver's seat. According to G. Shamshyan, the Mercedes driver has no connection to the incident; he was present for a relative's memorial service.
