The Challenge is to Have a Capable Armed Forces, Political Scientist Says

Political scientist Alen Ghevondyan wrote on his Facebook page: "In one very clear word, the current reforms of the RA Armed Forces have one problem – to dismantle what we still have in the Armed Forces. I am not a politician, and this is not an observation aimed at gathering an electoral mass. I know our Armed Forces well enough from before the war and also now.

The problem is set to not have a capable Armed Forces. Even if the Russians set the task for us to rearm, it is not perceived very well in official Yerevan. I am not saying anything strange. There are other arrangements with ‘new partners.’ On the other hand, there is populism in a situation surrounded by countries that are ready to consume you, selling peace to your electorate.

There is a challenge set before the leadership that they must ensure. There may come a point when the need arises to stage an imitation of resistance again, this time concerning certain parts of the RA. I remind you: the issue is to draw the Russians into the war. By the way, the Russians are also playing their game, serving their interests.

The region wanted to be taken out from under them; being proudly alone, they wanted to hand over Artsakh to Baku until the last village. However, this game still has more surprises ahead. I will repeat: the Russians have not adopted us; we must solve our problems with our resources. Can we? We will, if not, they will do it for us.

And the Russians will not sit and wait to see how some rival country takes Armenia or Artsakh without a gram of resistance from the RA. In the same manner, Iran's approach is more restrained. Yes, they will try to create something resembling the USSR; I have said this many times in recent years. Azerbaijan must somehow detach from its senior partner. And some months ago, Putin’s words regarding Baku choosing its allies were not without reason.

By the way, if they 'don’t know' in Georgia, let me say that Georgia as such 'does not exist.' Ankara has long taken it over (for those interested in this topic, just look at the figures of Turkey's economic involvement in that country), and the first step, during a large conflict, will be the annexation of Adjara, and NATO partners will not be able to prevent Turkey from doing so. By the way, the Russians will not be observers in that regard either... I repeat again: the leadership with psychological disorders must go before the elections. Where they go and how they go, you’ll decide based on your tastes.”
