Russia's FSB Detains Ukraine's Consul in St. Petersburg
The Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia has detained Ukraine's consul in St. Petersburg for allegedly obtaining confidential information from law enforcement and FSB databases. This was reported to TASS by the FSB's Public Relations Center.
According to the information, on April 16, during a meeting in St. Petersburg with a Russian citizen, the Ukrainian diplomat, Consul Alexander Sosonyuk, was caught while trying to acquire secret information contained in the databases of Russian law enforcement and the FSB.
The FSB emphasized that “this activity is incompatible with the status of a diplomatic worker and has a clear hostile nature towards the Russian Federation.”
The intelligence agency added that measures would be taken against the Ukrainian diplomat in accordance with international law.
