What Did Aliyev Offer Yerevan to Resolve the Conflict? Lukashenko Shares Details from His Conversation with Aliyev
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev proposed to restore Nagorno-Karabakh if Armenia agrees to a peaceful resolution of the armed conflict, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko stated after talks with Aliyev during a broadcast on Belarus 1 channel.
Lukashenko noted that when he leaves the presidency, he will share "very good things" about what Aliyev proposed to Yerevan regarding the resolution of the conflict. "One of the proposals, when he told me, was: 'Listen, pass this on to the Armenians, you have good relations with them, I am ready to restore not only Karabakh but also 'get Armenia back on its feet.' ... Pass on to them that this issue should be resolved peacefully," Lukashenko quoted Aliyev.
Lukashenko did not specify when exactly this conversation with Aliyev took place but mentioned that it occurred before Nikol Pashinyan took office as Prime Minister of Armenia. "This kind of thing happened. But the previous leadership of Armenia, before Pashinyan, refused it," he said.
The Belarusian president also noted that this is the first time he is publicly discussing these events.
