Turkey Seeks Investments in Artsakh: Selcuk Akat Claims 'Karabakh is Rich in Natural Resources'
Following the transfer of the territories of Nagorno-Karabakh to Azerbaijani control, plans are underway to create the necessary infrastructure for settlements and economic activities, as well as to attract influx of people and investments. This was announced by Selcuk Akat, the head of the Turkish-Azerbaijani Business Council under the Turkish Foreign Economic Relations Board, according to minval.az.
According to him, they are working to bring Turkish investors to Nagorno-Karabakh. "The new political reality in the Caucasus will allow Turkey and Azerbaijan to easily increase their trade volume from the current $4.5 billion to $15 billion. Azerbaijan and Turkey have set a goal to reach this level of turnover," he stated.
Akat pointed out that Turkish contractors have successfully completed a total of 436 projects in Azerbaijan, worth $15 billion. In parallel, a private bank announced the opening of a branch in Nagorno-Karabakh.
He emphasized that Karabakh is rich in natural resources and that by investing in the exploitation of mineral resources, investments can significantly contribute to the development of the economy of the region and the country. "The wealth of Karabakh creates new opportunities for tourism," he added.
