Georgia Returns Its Ambassador to Ukraine Due to Large-Scale Russian Troop Movements at Their Border

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili has called on the parliament to urgently return the ambassador to Kyiv due to large-scale movements of Russian troops at the border with Ukraine. This is stated in the text of the head of state’s speech, as reported by Korrespondent.

The diplomat was recalled nearly a year ago following the appointment of Mikheil Saakashvili as head of the Executive Committee for Ukraine’s Reforms.

"I do not want to conclude my speech on April 9, the day of our independence consolidation, without mentioning the current struggle of our Ukrainian friends and expressing solidarity with them. I believe that today, as a sign of solidarity, it is necessary to urgently return the ambassador to Kyiv," the president stated.

Earlier, the Georgian Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee also issued a statement regarding the situation in Donbas. The diplomats expressed decisive support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
