Los Angeles Mayor Calls on Biden to Recognize Armenian Genocide Through Change.org Petition

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has called on everyone to join the Change.org petition titled “Yes, This Is Genocide,” aimed at recognizing the Armenian Genocide committed by the Young Turks in 1915.

“I am Eric Garcetti, the Mayor of Los Angeles, and I am here to join the simple call of thousands: it is time to tell the truth. It is time to remember the tragedies of history so that we do not repeat them. It is time for all of us, including President Joe Biden, the Los Angeles administration, and authorities in the United States and around the world, to declare unanimously: ‘we recognize the Armenian Genocide.’ We mourn the deaths of the 1.5 million Armenians who were brutally killed during a systematic campaign of terror. We will always stand with those Armenians who advocate for justice, peace, and security. I encourage everyone to join the Change.org petition “Yes, This Is Genocide.” We must all remember the reality of our past in order to build a better future,” Garcetti stated.
