VIDEO: Burglary Suspect Arrested at the Scene
On April 7, just past midnight, the Dilijan police department received information that a 31-year-old resident of the city, previously convicted multiple times, was attempting to steal from a house on Shahumyan Street.
Criminal investigators immediately headed to the scene. The suspect had already opened the house door using technical means. The police caught him in the act of theft. The suspect tried to escape, at which point a police officer from the Dilijan protection department assisted the criminal investigators from a nearby house.
The burglar resisted, resulting in a broken window and injuries to the assisting police officer's forearm. The 31-year-old man's efforts were in vain. He was taken into custody by the Dilijan police department and arrested. The injured police officer was transported to the hospital.
A folding knife was found during a personal search of the suspect. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident.
Notification: The suspect in the alleged crime is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedures established by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia, as determined by a legally binding court verdict.
