Where Azerbaijan Has Permanently Deployed Bayraktar TB2 Drones
After the end of hostilities, Azerbaijan is rearming its military infrastructure and creating new facilities, including the permanent deployment of Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 strike drones. This article by Razm.info addresses the locations of these drone deployments.
In our article “Turkey's Participation in the War. Part B. Drones”, we noted that during the conflict, Bayraktar drones were stationed at various airbases in Azerbaijan, ensuring their protection from missile strikes and minimizing ground losses. After the war, Azerbaijan has established permanent deployments for these drones at the same bases where they operated during the conflict.
One of the first known permanent deployment sites is the airport in Yevlakh, which also houses one of Azerbaijan's drone centers. During the war, Bayraktar TB2 drones were seen here, and we discussed this base in detail in our article “Unfired Missiles No. 3. What Targets Did the Iskander Have?”. After the end of hostilities, two new hangars are being constructed adjacent to existing hangars of various sizes for the permanent deployment of the Bayraktar TB2 drones.
These hangars, approximately 30 meters long and 18 meters wide, have the capacity to house three drones each. However, this does not necessarily mean that six drones will be stationed together in the two hangars simultaneously.
The next permanent deployment site is the Dallari airbase, located about 6 km northwest of the city of Shamkhore. We also referenced this base in our previous article. This base was inherited from Soviet times, but extensive reconstruction work was performed here in the summer of 2020, updating and technically reequipping it. Unlike Yevlakh, for the permanent deployment of Bayraktar TB2 drones, the airbase is not constructing new hangars but is repurposing hangars built during the Soviet era that have since been renovated and fortified.
Nevertheless, Azerbaijan could also establish permanent deployments for these drones in other locations. Considering Azerbaijan's developed network of airbases and launch pads, the military can operationally utilize these drones from various parts of the country as needed.
