Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan: Fascism is the Basis of Human Rights Violations, Repressions, and Atrocities

The Azerbaijani authorities continuously claim that fascism is being encouraged in Artsakh and Armenia. But is that really the case? If so, how do they explain the blatant destruction and defilement of the statues of Armenian marshals and generals—who heroically fought against fascism and Nazism during the Great Patriotic War and triumphed—by their armed forces in Artsakh, both after and before this war? This was stated by Armenia's Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan on his Facebook page.

“Marshal Hovhannes Baghramyan—twice Hero of the USSR, Marshal of the USSR, born in the village of Chardakhlu, Ganja; Marshal Hamazasp Babajanyan—Hero of the USSR, chief marshal of armored troops, born in the village of Chardakhlu, Ganja; Nelson Stepanyan—twice Hero of the USSR, one of the defenders of Leningrad, a pilot, born in Shushi; Armenak Khamperyants (Sergey Khudyakov)—Marshal of the USSR aviation, born in Mets Tagher, Hadrut; Sergey Sardarov—General Lieutenant of the USSR aviation, born in Azokh, Shushi; Hovhannes Isakov—Admiral of the Soviet Navy, Hero of the USSR, honorary member of the USSR Academy of Sciences, born in the village of Haji Kend, Kars; Hovhannes (Ivan) Tevosyan—people's commissar of metallurgy of the USSR during the war, later minister, Hero of Socialist Labor, born in Shushi. Ivan Tevosyan was responsible for supplying metal to all of the USSR’s defense enterprises.

Fascism is at the heart of human rights violations, repression, and atrocities. And who really encourages fascism by openly destroying and defiling the statues of generals and marshals who heroically fought against it and won?” he wrote.
