What Decisions Does Nikol Pashinyan Want to Make?

Everyone was confident that Nikol Pashinyan would not conceal his anger and dissatisfaction regarding the recent Constitutional Court ruling on Article 300.1 of the RA Criminal Code and would certainly express his opinion. Indeed, he stated in Armavir region that “we should read the decision and see what it says in order to make decisions regarding the future.” Many believe that with this statement, Pashinyan is admitting that the March 1 case is purely political and is directed by the current authorities. After all, what business does the Prime Minister of the country have in making decisions regarding any criminal case?

“The person occupying the position of Prime Minister of Armenia has never concealed and does not conceal that after coming to power, he is directly fabricating cases, constructing cases, doing what is beneficial to him, disregarding both the laws and the Constitution. After coming to power, he stated, ‘the March 1 case has been revealed for us.’ But even when faced with outright disgrace, he shamelessly continues to make statements within the same logic, which is not surprising. He openly shows that there will be no retreat, that new cases will be fabricated to presumably keep Robert Kocharian and other former officials involved in the March 1 case in a state of ‘fear and terror,’” said political scientist Gagik Hambaryan in an interview with “Fact.”

According to Ruben Melikyan, co-founder of the NGO “Legal Path,” the entire process around the Constitutional Court was conditioned by this case: “If they want to read it, let them read it. Ultimately, this reading can only raise the legal consciousness of certain individuals, although I think it is somewhat too late for representatives of ‘My Step’. On the other hand, I believe it is much more expressive to see the claims of figures with Soros-affiliated orientations regarding the procedures for the election of Constitutional Court judges. And it is based on those claims that one can draw a direct conclusion that the entire process of removing three judges from the Constitutional Court and dissolving the Court itself was conditioned precisely by this case and aimed at obtaining a favorable decision in this case,” Melikyan stated.

This is reported by the newspaper “Fact.”
