Possible Dismissal of Armenian National Security Service Director Armen Abazyan
The Director of the National Security Service, Armen Abazyan, may soon be dismissed from his position. According to ArmLur.am, Andranik Simonian, a former judge of the Lori Regional Court, is set to be appointed to this role. Simonian has recently been appointed as the Deputy Chairman of the Investigative Committee and has notably been recognized in the judicial system for his absence from court sessions and overall lack of attendance at work.
However, sources tell ArmLur.am that Simonian's appointment as Deputy Chairman of the Committee was not coincidental. Reliable information indicates that he is expected to be designated as Deputy Director of the National Security Service shortly, followed by an appointment as Director, similar to the case with Argishti Kyaramyan.
Reports suggest that Abazyan has come under criticism from Andranik Kocharyan, a member of the My Step parliamentary group, in connection with matters involving Kocharyan's nephew. Additionally, Arsen Torosyan has also voiced opposition to the Acting Director due to several revelations regarding him. Further details can be found on our website.
