VIDEO: The Third Instance – Azerbaijanis Desecrate Another Church, This Time the St. Yeghishe Church in Mataghis

A video has surfaced online providing further evidence of the cultural genocide perpetrated by Azerbaijanis. The footage does not specify which church has fallen victim to the vandalism of Azerbaijani soldiers, but a correspondent from Sputnik Armenia has managed to determine that it is the St. Yeghishe Apostle Church, built between 1892-1898, located in the northwestern part of Mataghis.

In the video, three men in Azerbaijani military uniforms enter the Armenian church and declare their intention to perform prayers there. One of the men is wearing a uniform emblazoned with the flags of Turkey and Azerbaijan. They engage in profanity and vandalize religious icons. At the end of the video, there is also a photograph of the Zoravor St. Astvatsatsin (Holy Mother of God) Church in Mekhakavan (Jabrayil), which has been destroyed since coming under Azerbaijani control, creating the impression that the footage features the same church before its destruction. Meanwhile, this incident marks the third church desecrated by Azerbaijanis in just the last few days.
