Details of Vendetta in Gyumri: Father’s Throat Cut in Front of Children
Aravot.am reports that the residents of Gyumri are still recovering from the brutal murder that took place in the Mush district last week. Police have not left the scene, with patrol cars stationed outside the suspect’s entrance for a week.
It should be reminded that around 2:00 PM, 37-year-old Rafik Mnatsakanyan was brutally slashed in the neck in the yard of the building, while earlier he had been stabbed multiple times in various parts of his body. His wife, Anush Sardarayn, and his cousin also suffered serious bodily injuries.
As previously reported by SHAMSHYAN.com, a criminal case has been opened in the Shirak regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia under the features of Article 34-104, Part 2, Clause 1 of the RA Criminal Code (murder, attempted murder of two or more persons), and several examinations will be conducted, including forensic psychiatric assessments.
The suspect, 34-year-old Hrachya Tamoyan, who lives in the Mush 2 neighborhood of Gyumri and is arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder, will undergo a forensic psychiatric examination to determine his mental state at the time of the crime.
Photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan reports that prior to the murder, H. Tamoyan's brother had died in a tragic car accident while the deceased was transporting him and his father, Artush Tamoyan, to Yerevan, as the brother, who had been injured in the recent war, required hospitalization for prosthetic surgery. Due to the unfortunate car accident, his father, A. Tamoyan, was also hospitalized, but died on February 25 at the Armenia Medical Center. It is likely that due to the severe mental distress following the deaths of his brother and father, H. Tamoyan suspected the taxi driver of being responsible and committed the act of murder on that very day.
According to the photojournalist, the father had previously worked in the police system and held the rank of lieutenant colonel, with both him and his brother being well-known in the criminal investigation department of the Mush police in Gyumri.
Note: A suspect or accused in a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the law as established by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia, by a legally binding court decision.
