Dispute and Stabbing in Yerevan Involving Sons of Officials and High-Ranking Officers
A major brawl that ended in a stabbing involved numerous young individuals, some of whom have familial ties with each other. They are aged between 18 and 35.
According to shamshyan.com, on March 21, a dispute and brawl occurred in Yerevan. At approximately 18:40, the Central Police Department received a call from the "Yerevan Medical Center" reporting that a man had been admitted with a "stab wound to the front wall of the chest." While the police were attempting to identify the victim, at around 23:00, the Mkhitar Heratsi Medical Center informed police that a citizen had been admitted with a "stab wound to the dorsal surface of the left half of the chest and a stab-laceration wound to the upper third of the right thigh."
The police operatives who arrived at the scene identified the injured man as 27-year-old Armen Movsesyan, a resident of Yerevan. While doctors fought to save the lives of the two victims, the criminal investigation department of the Central Police Department tracked down fresh leads, determining that the victims were stabbed near 35 Saryan Street.
As a result of operational investigative measures, police detained 32-year-old Armen Mkrtchyan and 35-year-old Mikayel Mkrtchyan on suspicion of participating in the brawl. Reports indicate that they are brothers and had a dispute with 36-year-old Artyom Mkrtchyan, the cousin of their aunt, who was among the injured and taken to the hospital.
The argument also involved other youths, including 18-year-olds Arthur Sardarayan, Davit Tonapetyan, Tigran Paronikyan, and 21-year-olds Vahe Paronikyan and Garik Varosyan, as well as 19-year-old Mel Kirakosyan and 22-year-old Nikolay Mamyan. According to preliminary information, during the brawl, N. Mamyan used a knife to stab and inflict injuries on A. Mkrtchyan, who was taken to the 2nd medical center, and A. Movsesyan, who was transferred to the Mkhitar Heratsi Medical Center.
The police are continuing their efforts to clarify the circumstances of the incident and identify and locate the other participants. Hospital doctors have reported that the injured victims are unable to provide explanations about the incident.
A criminal case has been opened at the investigative division of the Central Police Department under Article 112 (Deliberate infliction of serious harm to health) of the RA Criminal Code, and a forensic medical examination has been ordered.
