Truck and Bus Collide: Passenger Jumps Out of Vehicle and Dies

On March 16, at 17:24, the National Crisis Management Center received a call reporting a traffic accident on Davit Bek Street in Yerevan. A vehicle had gone off the roadway and entered the territory of a gas station, with a citizen trapped inside and a gas leak reported. This was reported by the official webpage of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Emergency crews from the Yerevan Rescue Department dispatched two fire-rescue units, as well as two rescuers from the Special Rescue Operations Center and operational groups from the National Crisis Management Center to the scene.

It was found that a truck of the brand “Foton” (driver: A. M., born in 1951) collided with a bus of the brand “Bogdan” (driver: G. Z., born in 1939) and thereafter struck an iron column inside the nearby “CPS” gas station.

Rescuers extricated the driver of the “Foton” truck and brought him to an ambulance, and he was hospitalized at “Erebuni” Medical Center. According to Shamshyan.com, as a result of the accident, the passenger in the truck, who was thrust into the gas station, jumped out of the vehicle after the driver reported that there was a problem with the brakes. Tragically, he died on the spot after exiting the vehicle, while two other individuals were transported to the hospital.

A criminal case has been initiated under Part 2 of Article 242 of the RA Criminal Code. The police and investigation department are working to identify the drivers, the injured parties, and the deceased.
