37-Year-Old Man and Random Witness Killed; Bodies Discovered
New details have emerged regarding a high-profile murder case involving two men in Yerevan. The Armenian police and the Investigative Committee have provided insights into the situation.
On March 10, a report was received by the Central Police Department of Yerevan from the Kapan Police Department, indicating that a 37-year-old man registered in Kajaran had gone missing near the "Gortsaranayin" metro station.
Following days of investigative efforts, it was discovered that a quarrel had occurred between the missing man and a 30-year-old man registered in Hrazdan but residing in the capital at the intersection of Zakyan and Grigor Lusavorich streets, during which the 30-year-old's friend intervened.
Preliminary information suggests that this friend chased the missing man and stabbed him multiple times with a knife. Subsequently, the body of the deceased was thrown into the Hrazdan River by his friends.
"It was revealed that when they attempted to dispose of the body, an unidentified individual witnessed the act. According to initial information, a 34-year-old man struck the witness with an axe, who also succumbed to his injuries. The second victim's body was also thrown into the Hrazdan River," reads the statement.
In connection with the incident, five individuals have been arrested. On March 22, the body of the witness was discovered in Lake Yerevan. Just two days later, on March 24, the body of the missing man was found in a waterway near Arshakunyats Avenue.
The two criminal cases have been combined into one proceeding, and the investigation is ongoing.
