Dachas Built Illegally by Force in Sevan Being Demolished, Says Minister
Since February 2021, nearly thirty structures lacking legal documentation have been demolished from the coastal areas of Sevan. This was announced by Minister of Environment Romanos Petrosyan during a meeting with journalists after a government session.
“At this stage, the demolition and removal from the shore are carried out exclusively on lands under the management of the ‘Sevan National Park’ without any type of legal right, for dachas, buildings, structures, annexes, and pavilions constructed through force. ‘Sevan National Park,’ as a state institution, has the authority to liberate its territories and return them under its management. There can be no talk of any compensation,” stated Romanos Petrosyan, adding that in the next phase, properties belonging to users who possess construction or leasing documents but were constructed in violation of regulations will also be demolished.
“We will notify them in advance and allow time, and if they do not dismantle their illegal constructions on their own, then ‘Sevan National Park’ will proceed with the demolition using its own resources and will file a legal claim for the recovery of the expenses incurred for the demolition,” said Romanos Petrosyan.
According to the minister, when it comes to those constructions below permissible limits that have state registration, at that time, the issue of compensation may be discussed: “This must be contested exclusively through judicial means and other procedures established by law,” he said.
