I Don't Think We Are on the Wrong Track: NSS Deputy Director on the 'Fake Case'

During a press briefing in the National Assembly today, NSS Deputy Director, Major General Tigran Harutyunyan stated that the investigation into the 'Gagik Soghomonyan' fake account is proceeding in the right direction.

"I don't think we are on the wrong track. There are several individuals who have access to that page, which explains why it continues to operate. The entire network will be uncovered during the preliminary investigation," he said.

Harutyunyan also emphasized that the issue is not just the existence of fake accounts but the aggressive spread of lies on various issues.

It is worth noting that four citizens are charged in connection with maintaining the 'Gagik Soghomonyan' fake page: Aram Sargsyan, Mher Avagyan, political scientist Karen Bekaryan, and former head-secretary of the National Assembly Ara Saghatelyan. They face charges under Article 226 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (inciting national, racial, or religious hatred), Article 226.2 (public calls for the use of violence, justifying or promoting violence publicly), and Article 307.4 (violating the rules for publishing or disseminating information during a state of martial law). All four are currently at liberty.
