Widespread Blossoming of Apricot Trees Expected in Ararat Plain from March 21-25

The Hydro-Meteorological and Monitoring Center reports that widespread blossoming of apricot trees is expected in the Ararat Plain from March 21-25. In mountainous regions, the winter dormancy period of autumn-planted wheat has continued. No dangerous temperatures for autumn planting have been recorded.

At the beginning of March, weather conditions in the valley regions have been favorable for conducting fieldwork. Pruning and vineyard maintenance have taken place in the vineyards. Due to the high temperatures recorded in the valley areas, the vegetation period of autumn-planted wheat began 30 days earlier than the multi-year averages; the buds of apricot trees have swollen.

However, in the second half of March, the growth of buds slowed down due to a decrease in temperatures. In the vicinity, the buds are swollen, while in Ararat and Artashat, they are slightly open. Considering the observed and forecasted weather conditions and specialized agro-meteorological calculations, the mass flowering of apricot trees in the Ararat Plain is expected to occur on March 21-25, which is close to the multi-year average date.
