Relatives of Chief Inspector from Food Safety Agency Under Armed Attack in Goris

The Goris Police Department is preparing materials regarding a report received on March 3. On the same day, around 17:20, an alert was received about an armed attack in the village of Akner.

According to shamshyan.com, the head of the Syunik regional police, Alik Hakobyan, and the head of the Goris police department, Sergo Markosyan, arrived at the scene.

Police have invited 49-year-old Artem Minasian, a resident of Akner, to the Goris Police Department. He stated that at around 17:00, he received a phone call from his nephew, Albert Minasian, who informed him that a fellow villager, 51-year-old Sedrak Sedrakyan, had threatened with a grenade, stating he would blow them up. Hearing this, he went to his brother's house to understand the intent of Sedrakyan’s actions. However, upon arrival, the latter shouted insults at those present and then attacked them with a knife, threatening to kill them before fleeing. Following this incident, Minasian informed the Goris police.

According to the news outlet, some time later, the police, conducting operational-search measures, found Sedrakyan in his residence. He presented the police with an AK-type assault rifle, two magazines, 32 pieces of 7.62 mm caliber ammunition, and a kitchen knife, after which he was taken to the police station. He stated that he had obtained all of this during the last military operations from the Goris municipality.

Artem Minasian is the chief inspector at the Food Safety Inspectorate of the Syunik regional center, under the government of Armenia.
