The Number of Turkish Soldiers Killed in Aviation Accident in Turkey Reaches 11

The number of Turkish soldiers killed in an aviation accident in eastern Turkey has reached 11, as reported by Turkey's Ministry of Defense, according to TASS. Earlier reports indicated 9 fatalities and 4 injuries.

It has been reported that a Cougar-type helicopter, which was en route from Bingöl to Dadaş, crashed. The flight took off at 14:55, and contact with the helicopter was lost at 15:25.

Search operations began using a CN-235 aircraft and drones. It was subsequently confirmed that the helicopter had crashed. Preliminary data suggest that the cause of the accident could be due to bad weather or a technical malfunction of the helicopter.

Among the victims of the crash was General Osman Erbaş, the commander of the 8th Corps of the Turkish Land Forces in Elazığ.
