I Am Upset with His Father for Wasting the Revolution, But Please Leave the Kids Alone, Tokmajian Says
Historian Vahram Tokmajian wrote on his Facebook page: “I had decided to remain silent on this topic, but it’s not working out. I have taught Ashot. You can criticize his father, condemn him, throw all the mud, but what does the kid have to do with it? I am not going to shower praises on the teacher, nor am I going to spread the pathos of a 'Red October' style. I have just taught Ashot. He is not my student. I have very few students. But for anyone I have taught, I am somewhat responsible.
Ashot is an average guy—a hipster, a joker, or whatever; that is his right. In the past, we have never targeted the children of those in power (presidents, ministers, prime ministers) unless they have shot at people or developed a monopoly in the drug business. Ashot is a simple guy, living his life. I am upset with his father for wasting the revolution, but Arpi, Ashot, Shushan, and all the other kids remain immune. Please leave the kids alone, I ask.”
