4 kg of Heroin and 2 kg of Opium Found; One Suspect is Iranian
As a result of special measures taken by the police, on February 22, near the wooden electric pole on the right side of the road leading from Alvank village to Shvanidzor village in the Syunik region, approximately 4 kg of a substance resembling heroin and about 2 kg of a substance resembling opium were discovered.
According to Shamshyan.com, the police and investigators, after conducting necessary operational and investigative measures, detained on February 23, in the evening and in collaboration with the traffic police, V. Babayan, a resident of Yerevan, born in Gegharkunik region, on suspicion of illegally acquiring, storing, and distributing narcotic substances from the administrative territory of Marmarashen village in Ararat region. Also detained were a 50-year-old Iranian national, Yusef H., temporarily residing in Yerevan, and his companion, A. Badalyan, a 43-year-old resident of Yerevan. All of them have been arrested.
As part of the criminal case initiated regarding the incident, a forensic examination has been ordered. According to sources, the Iranian suspect was traveling in a Mercedes vehicle.
