VIDEO: Police Ambushed and Uncovered Theft
On February 11, officers from the Vanadzor community police division received operational information that two individuals were stealing from a private house on Saint Petersburg Street in Vanadzor. It was around five in the evening when the officers quickly arrived at the scene. They decided to first set up an ambush.
Upon arriving unnoticed, the police spotted two young men leaving the back of the house. They were carrying bags and were seen transporting something wrapped in a blanket, resembling a television. Immediately apprehending them was challenging due to numerous escape routes; the neighborhood is often referred to as the Jungle.
Quickly assessing the situation, the police first blocked off the escape routes. After covering a distance of about 100 meters, the suspicious young men hid the blanket in some bushes and, still holding the bags, continued toward Nersisyan Street.
The moment to catch them arrived. Thanks to the skilled actions of the division officers, one of the suspects was apprehended on the spot while trying to flee, while the other managed to reach Nersisyan Street, where accomplices were waiting for him.
Both men, aged 26 and 22 from Vanadzor, were taken into custody by the Bazum Police on suspicion of theft. During interrogations, they admitted to the crime after ensuring that the homeowners had left the house; they opened a window, entered the residence, and stole a television, jewelry, and cognac. While fleeing, they discarded the bags, but a personal search revealed a gold-colored chain with a pendant in one man's pocket. He confessed that he had stolen the chain from the first floor of the same house.
To recover the stolen items, the officers systematically combed through the suspects' escape route. They discovered a stolen digital camera, a mobile phone, and a remote control, all of which were seized as material evidence.
Both suspects have been arrested, with the 26-year-old being detained on February 13. The investigation is ongoing.
