Marukyan Responds Positively to Intent to Make Russian an Official Language in Artsakh

The leader of the ''Bright Armenia'' faction in the National Assembly, Edmon Marukyan, responds positively to the intention of granting Russian official language status in Artsakh. Marukyan expressed this view during a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly.

“Now you want this contingent to ensure peace, you want this contingent to provide our security, but should there be nothing in their language? Is that fair?” said Marukyan.

According to him, sovereignty is not conditioned by languages. The leader of the LHK cited the example of Switzerland, which has more than one official language, and asked, “Is it not sovereign now?”

It is noteworthy that a draft amendment is being discussed in the Artsakh National Assembly to the ''Language Law'', which aims to grant Russian official language status.
