They Wanted to Shift the Blame for the Fall of Shushi onto Seyran's Pockets: Serzh Sargsyan
During the final phase of the war, experienced generals were entrusted with organizing defensive operations for a different purpose: to attribute defeat to them. This was stated by the third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, during an interview.
“At the beginning of November, the pro-government press began to write about the heroic efforts Seyran Ohanyan was making to defend Shushi. I was surprised. Just 2-3 days later, they began to accuse him of not being able to hold Shushi. They wanted to shift the blame for the fall of Shushi onto Seyran's pockets. But Seyran Ohanyan was merely in an advisory role. Or what units were assigned to Levon Mnatsakanyan? If he had no strength to fight, what was he supposed to do? He's not a squad commander or a platoon commander. Then they tell tales about Shushi,” he said.
