Pashinyan Keeps Arsen Torosyan Close with the 'Weapon' of Inspections
For more than a month now, the State Audit Office has been conducting inspections in the healthcare system regarding Covid-19, including the ministry and medical institutions. They are examining how efficiently the funds allocated from the budget and financial assistance received from abroad for the pandemic have been utilized. The inspections have not yet concluded, and the head of the Audit Office informed us yesterday that he cannot specify when they will be completed, as it is a lengthy process, and a report will follow for the Prime Minister. He was unable to provide further details.
There are reports suggesting that the reason for such inspections ordered by an authority under the Prime Minister was Arsen Torosyan's resignation from the position of Minister of Health, of which Pashinyan was previously informed. Torosyan wished to withdraw entirely from the government, but Nikol Pashinyan has kept him close using the 'weapon' of inspections. As long as he remains, the results of the inspections will not be published.
We also learned that the Audit Chamber has recently begun inspections in the healthcare sector; however, these are planned inspections that were previously scheduled, thus coinciding directly with those of the Audit Office.
